What is latitude?
Imaginary lines around the Earth running parallel to the equator. These are measured in degrees north or south of the equator.
What is longitude?
Imaginary lines around the Earth running from the north to the south pole. These are measured in degrees east or west of the Greenwich or Prime Meridian.
What are contour lines?
Contour lines are lines that show relief on a map. The closer contour lines are the steeper a slope.
In which order do you read grid reference?
“x” then “y” (along the corridor, up the stairs)
What are the types of Geography?
Human, environmental and physical
What are the seven continents?
North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, Antarctica, Australasia/Oceania
What are the five oceans?
Atlantic Ocean, Pacific ocean, Northeren Ocean, Indian Ocean and the Arctic Ocean
Which direction does the Prime Meridian go?
east-west/horizontal
what is the capital of Wales?
Cardiff
What is the capital of Northern Ireland?
Belfast
What is the capital of Scotland?
Edinburgh
