Why do some people argue that clone towns are a bad thing?

A

Some people argue that clone towns are a bad thing as it makes place loose their unique character, less tourists will be encouraged to come if the shops if they can be found in so many other towns. Similarly, big national groups cant be relied upon in times of difficultly (fair weather friends), which will pull out at the first sign on economic downturn, leaving buildings empty which becomes a magnet for vandalism and graffiti. Finally, they will loose there sense of place, historical significance
