It enhances welfare, longevity, health status and reproductive success.
What are some positives of mixed exhibits?
-it increases species diversity
-immersive and naturalistic both species and visitors
-they make more uses of the space
Why is observation of enclosure uses important?
To make sure the species is in the correct enclosures. If not it could cause atypical or terrestrial behaviours.
Why is observing the animal behaviour important?
This helps to ensure the animal is not showing signs of abnormal or atypical behaviours. This also helps to make changes in the enclosure to improve their welfare.
What is a welfare audit?
This evaluate if a zoo is meeting the correct standards to meet the animals welfare needs. Each zoo has their own set of standards.
