What is wegner’s?
granulomatous with polyangiitis is a systemic autoimmune small vessel vasculitis
What does Wegner’s usually affect?
upper and lower respiratory tract along with pauci-immune glomerulonephritis
What is the upper airway presentation of Wegner’s?
- nasal obstruction
- ulcers
- epistaxis
- saddle shaped deformity of nose
What is the lower airway presentation of Wegner’s?
cough and haemoptysis
What is the renal presentation of Wegner’s?
rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis causing haematuria and red cell casts
What can other presentations of wegner’s be?
- purpura
- nodules
- peripheral neuropathy
- arthritis/athralgia
What bloods and results would be shown on wegners?
- ESR/CRP- elevated
2. c-ANCA- positive- highly specific
What other investigations are done?
- urinalysis and microscopy
2. CT chest
What would urinalysis and micrscopy show?
- haematuria
- RBC casts
What would CT chest show?
lung nodules and infiltrates
What is the medical management for Wegner’s?
Corticosteroids (prednisolone)
What are possible complications for wegners?
Corticosteroids side effects
