eosinophilic granulomatous with polyangiitis is a systemic autoimmune small vessel vasculitis

A
asthma and eosinophilia

p-ANCA antibodies

What is the presentation of Churg strauss?
A
- History of asthma, allergic rhinitis or sinusitis
- Skin nodules, palpable purpura
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Can involve heart, GI tract and kidneys (pauci-immune complexes)

What investigations and results are present in Churg Strauss?
A
- ESR/CRP- elevated
- p-ANCA- positive
- Serum IgE- elevated levels

What is the management for Churg strauss?
A
- Oral steroids (prednisolone) needed for induction of remission and maintenance
- Steroid sparing agents if not tolerated
