Week seven OIA Lower E Flashcards
Origin of Rectus Femoris
Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine (AIIS)
Insertion of Rectus Femoris
Tibial Tuberosity via Patellar ligament
Action of Rectus Femoris
Flexion of hip and knee extension
Origin vastus medialis
Medial lip linea aspera
Middle of the lip to aspera
Medial = middle
Insertion of vastus medialis
Tibial Tuberosity via Patellar ligament
Action of vastus medialis
Extension of knee
Origin of vastus lateralis
lateral lip linea aspera, gluteal tuberosity, greater trochanter
Lateral lip of the aspera, gluts tub and the greater troch.
Lateral = lateral (BIG L)
Insertion of vastus lateralis
Tibial Tuberosity via Patellar ligament
Action of vastus lateralis
Extension of knee
Origin of vastus intermedius
Anterior and Lateral shaft of femur
A-L shaft of Femur
Inter = anterior
Front of femur
Insertion of vastus intermedius
Tibial Tuberosity via Patellar ligament
Action of vastus intermedius
Extension of knee
Origin of biceps femoris
Long: Ishial tuberosity
short: lateral lip linea aspera
IT and lateral lip of aspera
Insertion of biceps femoris
head of fibula (posterior)
The fibula is by the head
Action of biceps femoris
Flextion and laterally rotate knee.
Long: hip extension and laterally rotate. Post tilt of pelvis
Bi = laterally
Origin of semitendinosus
Ishial tuberosity
IT
Insertion of semitendinosus
hamstring
Proximal, medial shaft of tibia at pes anserine tendon
P-M is tender
Action of semitendinosus
flexion and medially rotate knee. extension and medially rotate hip. post pelvic tilt
Tendin = medially
Middle of the tendon
Origin of semimembranosus
Ishial Tuberosity
Insertion of semimembranosus
Posterior of medial condyle of tibia
middle of membrane is posterior of tibia
Action of semimembranosus
Flexion and medial rotation of knee. Extension and medially rotation. Post tilt pelvis.
Same as semitendinosus
Origin of Sartorius
Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
All the S’s
S = ASIS
Insertion of Sartorius
Proximal, medial, shaft of tibia at pes anserine tendon
P -M of the tibia
Same as semitendinosis
Action of Sartorius
Flexion and medially rotation knee. Flexion and laterally rotation and abduct hip.
HIP: FABER - flexion, abduction, external rotation
KNEE: flexion and internal rotation
Origin of Tensor Fasciae Latae
Iliac crest, posterior to ASIS
Iliac is posterior to the ASIS
Insertion of Tensor Fasciae Latae
Iliotibial tract
Action of Tensor Fasciae Latae
Flexion, medially rotation and abduct hip
Medial abduct of flextion
