Week 9 part 1 - Elbow joint Flashcards
Elbow joint allows for…
flexion and extension
Radioulnar joint allows for…
pronation and supination
muscles of the forearm
brachialis
biceps brachii
brachioradialis
triceps brachii
Anconeus
Pronator teres
Pronator quadratus
Supinator
Brachialis OIA
Origin: Humerus (halfway down the shaft)
Insertion: ulna - coronoid process, ulnar tuberosity
Action: Elbow flexion
Biceps brachii OIA
O: scapula - long head: supraglenoid tubercle
Short head: coracoid process
I: Radius - radial tuberosity
A: Elbow flexion, supination
Brachioradialis OIA
O: distal humerus - lateral supracondylar ridge
I: distal radius - styloid process
A: Elbow flexion - can help pronate & supinate to neutral position
Triceps brachii OIA
O: Scapula - long head: Infraglenoid tubercle
Humerus - Medial and lateral heads
I: Ulna - olecranon process
A: Elbow extension
Pronator teres OIA
O: Medial epicondyle
I: Mid radius
A: Pronates forearm - assists elbow flexion
Quadratus OIA
O: Distal ulna
I: Distal radius
A: Pronates forearm
