What is the difference between age and generation?
Age is your age and generation is a group of people that have shared experiences that identify you and affects behavior

Name generations and a few characteristics of each
Baby boomers - biggest consumers of traditional media
Gen X - still consumes traditional media but is also digitally savvy
Millenials - massive student debt delays major life purchases
Gen Z - smartphones, social media, hyper-connected world
Gen A - gravitating towards online learning
What is the difference between sex and gender?
Sex is biological - male, female, intersex
gender is a spectrum between masculinity, femininity, or anything in between
power distance
how much space there is with someone in authority over you with yourself
masculine vs. feminine
masculine countries focus on power, individualism
feminine countries focus on collectivism
uncertainty avoidance
how risk-averse people are in a nation
long term vs short term orientation
long term culture is one that values tradition strongly
short term likes to modernize quickly –> US fits more into this
indulgence vs. restraint
restraint –> conservative
indulgence –> allow ourselves to have fun
