What does trust in the CIO mean?
- Benevolence: the CIO acts in the best interest of the organization
- Honesty: the CIO is honest in his/her dealings with TMT
- Ability: the CIO is competent in what he/she does
What does the term shared language mean?
the degree to which the CIO avoids using IS jargon and primarily uses business terminology.
What does the term shared cognition mean?
the degree to which the CIO and TMT have a shared understanding regarding the IS within the organization
What does the term Informal interaction mean?
The frequency of informal interaction of the CIO with the TMT
What does the term Formal positions mean?
refers to the structural position of the CIO within the organization that allows for official acces to the TMT
What are the two social media policies?
- Restrictive policy: employees being careful not to disclose internal matters on social media
- Supportive policy: communities and interest groups –> more informal connections –> diverse ideas –> increased creativity
What are the five stages of the Gartner’s hype cycle?
- Innovation trigger (no usable products exist)
- Peak of inflated expectations (a small number of succes stories)
- Through of disillusionment (interest disappears)
- Slope of enlightenment (more succes stories, second/third generation products appear)
- Plateau of productivity (mainstream adoption starts to take off)
What is a social network?
Sets of people connected by social ties
Social ties can be weak (intergroup) or strong (intragroup)
What is a closed network?
All people are connected with each other. social ties between everyone
what is a sparse network?
not everyone has a social tie with each other
What are the seven ways of getting approval from blockers?
- Rational persuasion (logical persuasion and factual evidence)
- Consultation (modify the proposal to deal with the blockers concerns)
- Ingratiation (praise, flattery or friendly behaviour)
- Personal appeals (feelings of loyalty and friendship)
- Exchange (reciprocate at later time, you help me now and i will help you later)
- Pressure (threats, frequent checking)
- Coalition (Use allies to convince blockers)
