Week 7 Arm Flashcards
deep fasica of forearm
- brachial fascia
- medial and lateral intermuscular septa:
anterior (flexor) compartment
posterior (extensor) compartment
see diagram as well
what are the two heads of biceps brachii
short and long head
proximal and distal attachment of biceps brachii (short head)
proximal:
tip of coracoid process of scapula
distal:
tuberosity of radius and fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
innervation of biceps brachii (short head)
musculocutaneous nerve
proximal and distal attachment of biceps brachii (long head)
proximal:
supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
distal:
tuberosity of radius and fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
innervation of biceps brachii (long head)
musculocutaneous nerve
main action of biceps brachii (short, long head)
- supinates forearm
- flexes forearm when it is supine
- short head resists dislocation of shoulder
proximal and distal attachment of coracobrachialis
proximal:
tip of coracoid process of scapula
distal:
middle third of medial surface of humerus
innervation of coracobrachialis
musculocutaneous nerve
main action of coracobrachialis
- flexes and adducts arm
- resists dislocation of shoulder
proximal and distal attachment of brachialis
proximal:
distal half of anterior surface of humerus
distal: coronoid process
and tuberosity ulna
innervation of brachialis
- musculocutaneous nerve
- radial nerve
main action of brachialis
flexes forearm in all positions
what are three heads of triceps brachii
long, lateral, medial head
proximal attachment of triceps brachii (long head)
infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
proximal attachment of triceps brachii (lateral head)
- posterior surface of humerus
- superior to radial groove
proximal attachment of triceps brachii (medial head)
- posterior surface of humerus
- inferior to radial groove
distal attachment of triceps brachii (long, lateral, medial head)
proximal end of olecranon of ulna and fascia of forearm
innervation of triceps brachii
radial nerve
main action of triceps brachii (long, lateral, medial head)
- chief extensor of forearm
- long head resists dislocation of humerus
- especially important during adduction
what muscles are attached to tip of coracoid process of scapula
- coracobrachialis
- short head of biceps brachii
- pectoralis minor
musculocutaneous nerve
- from brachial plexus, pierces 穿過 coracobrachialis and descends 下降 between brachialis and biceps brachii
- supply lateral side of forearm
radial nerve
- from brachial plexus, enters the triangular interval with profunda brachii artery, pierces lateral intermuscular septum
- travels in the radial (spiral) groove
- supply posterior arm and forearm
.
cutaneous innervation of the skin on anterior and posterior compartment of the arm
refer back to notes
brachial artery
from axillary artery at lower border of teres major , to ulnar and radial arteries at the neck of the radius, in the cubital fossa
main branches of brachial artery
- profunda artery
- muscular and humeral nutrient
- superior and inferior ulnar collateral
borders of triangular interval at the back of the arm (superior, medial, lateral)
superior - teres major
medial - long head of triceps brachii
lateral - lateral head of triceps brachii, shaft of humerus
contents of triangular interval
- radial nerve
- profunda brachii artery
