Q

What is multiple baseline design?

A

The effectiveness of the treatment is demonstrated when a behaviour changes only after manipulation is introduced. Intervention in introduced at different times across subjects, behaviour and situations.

Q

What is programme evaluation? What phases are there?

A

Research on programmes that are implemented to achieve some positive effect on a group of individuals.

  1. Needs assessment
  2. Programme theory
  3. Process evaluation
  4. Outcome evaluation

Q

What is Programme theory?

A

May involve the collaboration of researchers, providers and possible clients to determine that the programme does address the needs of the population in appropriate ways.

Q

What is process evaluation?

A

When programme under way, the researcher monitors it to determine whether it is reaching the target population, attracting enough clients and whether staff are providing planned services.

Q

What is outcome evaluation?

A

Are the intended outcomes being realised? Must devise way of measuring outcome and then study impact of the programme on outcome measure.

Q

What is quasi-experimental design?

A

Allows us to examine the impact of an independent variable on a dependent variable, but causal inference is much more difficult because quasi-experiments lack important features of true experiments.
