Q

What are the Hip Rotators

A

Ext Rotation: Primarily by 6 deep ext rotators of hip, considered as one muscle. And gluteus Maximus.

Int Rotation: No real primary muscle - many contribute. Glut min, glut med, TFL, ST, SM, Gracilis

Q

what is femoroacetabular impingement?

A

Abnormal growth/deformity of femur or acetabulum.
Causes butting together at end of range
Can damage the cartilage of acetabulofemoral joint.
Risk factor for hip osteoarthritis
Higher risk in young people and athetlic groups

Q

What is Iliotibial band syndrome?

A

Iliotibial band fibrous reinforcement of the TFL.
If tight: Inflammation on the lateral aspect of the knee. Friction between iliotibial band and the lateral condyle of the femur.
