What are ethics?
A set of behaviour standards shared by a group or community
What are morals?
Beliefs about right and wrong
What are laws?
Rules made by a governing body presumed to be in the interest of the public
What is meant by freedom?
Free will and self-ownership. (property rights)
What is meant by privacy?
The freedom to keep things to oneself
What is the ethical relativism theory?
Ethics are relative to the actor and circumstance
What is the postmodernism theory?
Each person is responsible for constructing their own “ethic” and morals
What is analytical ethics?
Whether ethical judgements state facts or express attitudes. How moral judgements can be justified.
What is the Rawlsian Ethical Theory?
Ethics based on having no advance knowledge of one’s eventual position in society.
What is the utilitarian ehtical theory?
“Greatest good for the greatest number”
What is the consequentialist ethical theory?
Only the outcomes (consequences) matter. Some is ethical if it works
What is the non-consequentialist theory?
Something is ethical if it is done with good intentions
What is the egoism ethical theory
Based upon the needs of the individual
What are the 3 Business ethical theories

- Stakeholder Theory
- Social Contract Theory
What is stockholder theory?
Organisations exist for the benefit of the stockholders
