- is what makes nursing an art, it combines all ways of knowing and turns it into a new understanding of a phenomenon
- is that “aha” moment when we discover something new
WHAT IS NURSING KNOWLEDGE
nursing has it’s own knowledge as a profession that is seprate to medicine. it is always constantly expanding and is evolving, so it is important for nurses to stay up to date with relavent information.
- must stay informed with new relavent information, which may not be found in textbooks but in academic journals
HOW IS EVIDENCE INFORMED DECISION MAKING DONE
1) Evidence from research, evidence informed theroies, clinical experts and leaders
2) clinical expertise
3) evidence from assessment of patient history and physical health care resoures
4) information about a patients preferances, and their values, beleifs, and experience
