Week 4 - Kinematics of Gait Flashcards
What are the two components of angular angles of gait?
rotation of segments and joints during walking
What does COM stand for and mean?
Centre of Mass - the point where mass is evenly distributed
Is COM heightened most during stance or double support?
Stance
Where does the centre of mass go on the transverse plane?
Side to side (butterfly)
What angle is the pelvis in during gait?
Anterior tilt
What is the point of pelvis rotation during gait?
Advancing the limb and stride length
When the walking velocity is increased is there increased plantarflexion or dorsiflexion at the ankle?
- Increased plantarflexion (due to more power)
- Decreased dorsiflexion
When heel contact occurs, what does the knee do? Why?
- flexion (not fully straight)
- Shock absorption
- Weight acceptance
When the knee joint is in flexion during swing, what does that allow for?
- Foot clearance
- Limb shortening
