What is a literature review?
systematic and critical appraisal of the most important literature on a topic.
What does the literature review process include?
- Asking clinical questions
- ID and gathering evidence
- Critically appraising and synthesizing the evidence or literature
- Acting to change practice by using the best available evidence.
- Evaluating the use of research evidence to assess applicability.
What is a primary source?
Articles and books by the OG author.
What are secondary sources?
published articles and books by persons other than the OG author.
What is a peer-reviewed journal?
A panel of internal and external reviewers who review submitted manuscripts for possible publications.
What is an online database?
Can be used to find journal sources of research and conceptual articles on a variety of topics. Ex. Psycinfo, Cochrane Library, Medline.
What is a boolean operator?
Defines the relationship between words or groups of words in literature research. Like AND, OR, NOT etc.
