Week 2 - Assessment Tools Flashcards
What can we use Occupational Performance Analysis (OPA) to assess?
Parts of occupation that the child is having difficulty with (the factors that affects performance - PEO)
What are some standardised assessment tools?
- Assessment of Motor & Process Skills (AMPS)
- School Assessment of Motor & Process Skills
- Evaluation of Social Interaction (ESI)
What are some non-standardised assessment tools?
- PEO
- Dynamic Performance Analysis (flowchart that is part of CO-OP)
- OPA
What does Movement ABC assess for?
- Help to identify children with motor impairment
- To identify the impact of motor impairment on everyday tasks
What is the target population and age range to use Movement ABC on?
- Age: 3 years to 16 year 11 months
- Target population: DCD, ASD, DD, mild to moderate motor difficulties
What components does Movement ABC has?
- Manual dexterity
- Aiming & catching
- Balance
What does Sensory Profile 2 assess for?
To identify which sensory group the child is in and how their sensory processing difficulties may be contributing to / interfering with their participation in home, school and community
What is the age range and target population to use SP2 on?
- SP2: birth to 14 years 11 months
- Adolescent / Adult SP: 11 years to adult
- Target population: ASD, ADHD, DD, Anxiety & mental health conditions
What are the 4 types of sensory profiles?
- Seeking - high threshold; obtaining sensory stimulation
- Avoiding - low threshold; bothered by sensory stimulation
- Registration - high threshold; misses sensory stimulation
- Sensitivity - low threshold; detects slightest form of sensory stimulation
What does ‘Registration’ look like?
- Need help to find objects that are obvious to others
- Usually appears dazed; passive
- Seems oblivious to messy hand / face
- Rushes through colouring, writing or drawing
What does ‘Sensitivity’ look like?
- Detects stimulation easily
- Struggles to complete tasks when tv / music is on
- Limit self to certain food textures
- Becomes anxious when standing close to others
What does ‘Seeking’ look like?
- Always moving; easily distracted
- Touches people or objects to the point of annoying others
- Rocks in chair, on floor or while standing
- Watches everyone when they move around the room
What does ‘Avoiding’ look like?
- Too sensitive that they are bothered by it
- Reacts strongly to unexpected noise
- Shows an emotional response to being touched
- Sensitive to criticism
What are the components of SP2?
- Sensory & behaviour components
- 6 rating: in relation to frequency (90%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 10%, NA)
What does Child Assessment of Participation & Enjoyment (CAPE) assess for?
To explore child’s participation diversity, intensity, enjoyment; with whom & where; his / her preference
What is the age range and target population to use CAPE on?
- Age range: 6 to 21 years old
- Target population: children with and without disabilities
What does Preference for Activity (PAC) assess for?
- To assess a child’s preference for the same activity that they are participating in (usually conducted after CAPE)
What does Beery Visual-Motor Integration (Beery VMI) assess for?
To assess for visual perception, motor coordination and visual motor integration that can be manifested as hand-eye coordination issues
What is the age range for Beery VMI?
- Full form: 2 to 100 years old
- Short form: 2 to 7 years old
What are the components of Beery VMI?
- Visual Perception
- Motor Coordination
- Visual-Motor Integration
What does Young Children Participation & Environmental Measure (YC-PEM) assess for?
- Assesses participation and environmental support & barriers
- Frequency, involvement and desire for change in occupational performance
What is the age range for YC-PEM?
0 to 6 years 11 months (7 years)
What are the components of YC-PEM?
- Home: 16 activities
- Preschool / children: 3 activities
- Community: 12 activities
