CP principle
Any important information, phrase, or term in the Conclusion must be in a Premise.
PP principle
Any important information, phrase, or term in a Premise (but not in the conclusion) must also be in another Premise.
Standard Form
A format for setting out the statements of an argument to readily identify its structure. In later weeks we will learn several different standard forms.
Sub-argument
An argument whose conclusion serves as a premise of another argument.
Sub-conclusion
A premise of the argument that is supported by other statements.
Suppressed Conclusion
The conclusion of the argument, when it is not provided.
Suppressed Premise
A premise of the argument that is not provided.
