What is the Process of assigning a subject heading?
Summarizing the overall contents of a work w/suitable headings, considering works prominence, it’s specificity, and if it covers multiple/single topics
What is best LOC practice with assigning topics for subject headings?
Assign topics at least 20% of the work w/general max of 6-10 headings,
When a subject heading is the same as another access point, what do?
It should still be assigned, subject headings are a different type of access
How does capitalization work with subject headings?
In addition to proper nouns & adjectives, first word of each subfield, first word of an inverted part of a heading, first word in a qualifier is capitalized.
