TYPOLOGY OF MEN’S USE OF ANABOLIC
ANDROGENIC STEROIDS IN FITNESS AND
STRENGTH TRAINING ENVIRONMENTS
(CHRISTIANSEN ET AL., 2017)
Created a male gym-goer typology for AAS users using two main factors: risk and effectiveness. This typology was developed through an iterative process that identified dominant traits and linked them with existing literature on AAS use.
IDENTIFYING A TYPOLOGY OF MEN WHO USE ANABOLIC ANDROGENIC
STEROIDS (ZAHNOW ET AL., 2018)
Discovered different types of AAS users and studied the various reasons motivating male AAS use. Analyzed information from 611 men who used AAS, taken from the 2015 National IPED Info Survey. Utilized cluster analysis on 11 variables concerning health risks and desired outcomes to categorize groups within the data.
