Week 1.3 Primitive Reflexes Flashcards
if reflexes are absent, what are we concerned about
neuro development, and centers in the lower CNS.
why should reflexes go away or integrate as people get older
because they should become voluntary control, and they should disappear
by what age should they typically integrate
by the age of 6 months to one year,
if reflexes do not integrate, what is our concern
that they will interfere with proper development
what is the ATNR reflex
this is when the head rotates to the side, the skull limb will flex, and the opposite (face side) will extend
when does this appear and when does it integrate

what can lack of integration interfere with
coordination and grasping
rooting reflex
finding food, you touch the cheek and they suck your finger
when does this integrate
3-6 months
grasping reflex

when do the UE and LE grasping reflex integrate
UE: 4-7 months
LE: 9-12 months
what can the UE and LE grasping reflex interfere with
UE: reaching grasping and releasing
LE: walking and standing
