Kinesiology is the science of human movement, applying the latest evidenced- based research to improve function, health and wellness of people in all settings and populations.

Kinesiologists work with individuals, groups, families, caregivers and healthcare professionals to apply the principles of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology and psychomotor behaviour to improve health, function and performance.

Kinesiologists are committed to enhancing quality of life through the promotion of physical activity and workplace health and safety, the prevention and management of injury and chronic disease, and the overall improvement of health and performance

in the “beaty of demographics” what are the three factors we look at ?

A

1) Ease of measurement
2) Predictability of aging
3) Stability of needs/behaviour within each

19
Q

what do we mean by “Stability of needs” ?

A

Wear and tear of older adults as our population is aging
- Cost more in regards to the % of tax payers (tax payers numbers are shrinking)
- Cost more to look after our senior population
- Our older/elderly population is growing and living for much longer

21
Q

what are the Solutions to all these issues ????

A

———- > KINESIOLOGY

  • Turn up the volume – Assume our rightful place as leaders
  • Kinesiology – leadership role in research and program delivery in health, health promotion, intervention, rehabilitation
