What does the FAST Unit member do?
Reports to Battalion vehicle - monitors EFAS and FAST HT
States “EFAS to Command”
What does the Spare Radio Database include?
- Spare Radio - members identified in EFAS by Company, Position and Name
- Radio List - Updated in GREEN letters indicates most CURRENT
- Radio List - LAST UPDATED in BLACK indicated last time listed was updated
- EFAS FF can list to HT transmissions to identify unassigned spare radios
What happens when a member uses Emergency Alert Button in the EFAS system?
Identity line in EFAS highlighted in RED - Members company, position and name.
A. Radio Status area
B. Maydays area
-MDT prints out a hard copy with company, position and time of Mayday.
When HT is reset cleared the highlighted identity changes from
A- RED to WHITE in RADIO STATUS area
B- RED to YELLOW in MAYDAYS area
Other EFAS facts:
- EFAS can handle multiple Emergency Alert transmissions at the same time.
- EMS - show up with EMS unit position and name.
Using EFAS to identify member in distress:
1- First, press EAB to give Mayday “Mayday lost member located”
2- Reset your EAB button by depressing button for 2 seconds.
3-Notify IC prior to activating distressed members EAB.
4-Depress distressed members EAB.
5- Distressed members EAB remains active until no longer needed,
Electronic Roll Call procedures:
After pressing “Begin Roll Call” EFAS requests CAD to refresh assigned units
EFAS will show time stamp in GREEN if accurate update received
EFAS will show time stamp in RED if no change occurred
if EFAS indicates “unable to retrieve” NOTIFY IC immediately
What are the colors during roll call and what do they mean?
YELLOW - unaccounted for
GREEN - member responded - keyed their mic 3 times
RED - emergency alert sent
GREY - unstaffed position
