What are two types of Aerial Photography?
Photogammetry - precise locations and heights
Air photo interpretation - identification of features
What are aerial photos used for?
Applications such as viewing an area over time and noting changes in land use and potential hazards
What is a large scale photo?
One that covers a small area and means that ground features appear large and more detailed
What is a small scale photo?
One that covers a large area and means that ground features appear smaller and less detailed
What is an Orthophoto?
A geometrically corrected aerial photograph that displays ground features in their true ground position with a constant scale throughout the image
What are some features to look for on aerial photographs from which information can be interpreted?
- tone/colour
- size
- shape
- texture
- pattern
- shadow
What are satellite images?
Examination of very large areas - typically ont as detailed as aerial photos
