perception, feeling of fear, and physiological reaction: all occur simultaniously.
what is a microexpression?
rapid movement of expressions that demonstrate true feelings.
tell me about the amygdala and fear conditioning
amygdala is related to fear. lesions to the amygdala prevent fear conditioning, and activates when looking at fearful expressions.
testosterone
testosterone actually isnt related to aggression, and limited studies have shown results.
what are the different types of stress
Acute stress: adaptive. improves immune system and make us perform better
Chronic stress: maladaptive. impair immune system.
Chronic psychological stress: most clearly linked to ill health
how does stress hurt you?
stress triggers hormones like HPA and adrenaline, which can cause inflammation in NS.
tell me about the innate and adaptive immune system
- Innate immune system: 1st line of defense, attacks generic classes of pathogen (inflammation from release of cytokines.)
- Adaptive immune system: targets specific pathogens identified by antigens (how vaccinations work.)
