- No
- just endometrium (thin white line in uterus)
what typical ages for molar pregnancy?
- extremes of age i.e. very young or very old
how many chromosomes would you see in a partial mole?
- 69
- 23+23+23

- no fetus

how does oestrogen work?
- helps thicken lining of the womb to prepare the uterus to carry a pregnancy
hoe does progesterone work?
- differentiates endometrium by stimulating the growth of blood vessels that supply the lining of the womb (endometrium) and stimulates glands in the endometrium
- it also prohibits muscle contractions in uterus that would cause the body to reject an egg
- if the egg isn’t fertilized, corpus luteum breaks down, leading to a drop in progresterone levels. endometrium breaks down = beginning of menstrual period
ovulation induction tx in those with PCOS?
- clomid
- gonadotrophins
-> downsides multiple stimulation could end up cancelling them - laparoscopic ovarian drilling - mono ovulation - therefore multiple pregnancy is low
disadvantages to laparoscopic ovarian drilling
- surgical risk
how does a copper coil work?
- copper alters the cervical mucus, which makes it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg and survive
- prevents implantation
molecularly
- increases level of copper ions in uterine and tubular fluid
- increased level of prostaglandin levels
- increased WBC’s
- make it difficult for sperm to penetrate
how does pure oestrogen work to suppress ovulation in tx of PMD?
- oestrogen help and alleivates symptoms by suppressing ovulation - reducing LHRH, reducing FSH/LH and preventing follicular development
rectovaginal endometriosis pain peaks at what point?
- starts around a week before menstruating and pain peaks during menstruation
