- Public

- passed by parliment & provincial legislatures

Federal: Canada Health act
Provincial: Personal health information act, PPCA, RHP, MHA etc.

A
- laws that update or amend existing statutes
-delegated or subordinate legislation - made by authority like Medical Officer of Health (eg) Brent Roussin
- legally binding

A
- also called tort law
- wrongs between persons/corporations/institutions
- rights, obligations, legal principles
- eg) negligence, smashing into someone’s fence with your car

- court interpretations of an act or civil case
-specific cases brought to the courts - eg) Carter v Canada (MAiD)
