Week 1 Case Study - James Tander (Need Lecture notes to study this) Flashcards
what is the patients primary problem?
hyovolaemic shock
James has lost a significant amount of blood and fluid
list all of the evidence you can to support your previous answer
a reflection of the vital signs
describe how the vital signs compensate to his primary problem
low blood volume makes it difficult to maintain an adequate blood pressure
increased HR and increased rest rate are compensating for low volume of blood
is this patients urinary output normal? why is it so important to monitor this patients urinary output?
20 ml per hour is below the normal range of 0.5/kg/hr. severe hypovolaemic shock can reduce blood flow to kidneys. making it difficult for the kidneys to filter blood. blood volume and blood pressure should be increase so that he does not develop acute renal failure.
