In front or in front of the body
Anterior
Behind, in back, or in the rear.
Posterior
The body lying face downward.
Prone
Lying on the back, face upward position of the body.
Supine
An imaginary external vertical line which is used as a reference line to divide the body or body parts into left and right sections.
Midline
On or to the side, outside, farther from the median.
Lateral
Relating to the middle or centre, nearer to the median.
Medial
Nearest the trunk or the point of origin.
Proximal
Situated away from the centre or midline of the body, or from the point of origin.
Distal
Above in relation to another structure (higher)
Superior (Supra)
Below in relation to another struction (lower)
Inferior (Infra)
