Q

If any visible moisture is present and temperature is below 32 deg F, what should you do during takeoff and climb?

A

1) Use Anti icing and deicing during take off and climb.

- this prevents sever compressor damage and flameout during takeoff/climb.

16
Q

Use of the GTC on the ground in desert conditions can do what?

A

1) Could bring in quantities of sand and dust if ground air conditioning is used.

17
Q

IF you have to back the aircraft in the desert what should you do?

A

1) First advance the throttles above cross over to blow away loose sand.
2) After moved in position, move throttles above ground idle until sand and dust cloud has been blown aft of the plane.

18
Q

On landing you have to advance throttles out of reverse by what?

When do they have to be at or above ground idle?

A

1) 60 knots

2) 40 Knots

19
Q

What are the rules regarding accomplishing approaches and departures during thunderstorms?

A

1) 1) Must not be producing any hazardous conditions (hail, lightning, strong winds, gust front, heavy rain, wind shear.
2) Must not be forecast or observed moving in the direction of the route of flight
3) Cannot impede the missed approach corridor
4) Maintain at least 5 NMs separation from heavy rain showers and avoid areas of high lightning potential usually within 5,000 feet of the freezing level.

20
Q

Can you use autopilot if in thunderstorms? IF so are all modes ok?

A

1) yes

2) but can’t use altitude hold.

21
Q

IF you are flying through suspected icing and the torque meeter drops off – assume what?

A

1) you are in clear air icing

22
Q

If you are in clear air icing then what should you do?

A

1) Turn Prop/Eng Anti-icing master switch on to manual position.
2) Place engine inlet anti-icing to on.
3) Increase airspeed and change altitude.

23
Q

What are the conditions for lightning strikes?

A

1) within 5,000 feet of freezing level
2) Within 8 degrees of freezing level
3) in clouds
4) In precipitation

24
Q

1) If on windshear encountered on take-off what are the responsibility of the nav and co-pilot?

A

1) Co-pilot = Altitude/radar altimeter

2) Navigator = call out terrain

25
Q

1) if on landing windshear encountered what are the responsibilities of the nav and co-pilot?

A

1) co-pilot calls out sink rate, and airspeed

2) nav calls out altimeter

26
Q

what are the requirements for a 1600 RVR takeoff?

A

1) Dual RVR readouts and displays
2) Runway centerline lighting
3) runway centerline markings are visible

27
Q

Can you use prop antiicing on the ground?`

A

1) Yes

2) when the engine is running.
