Weather Procedures Flashcards
Cold weather Procedures start when?
0 degrees C or 32 Degrees F
When operating in temperatures below what .. ensures engines and GTC are preheated prior to starting?
- 35 degrees F
- 37 Degrees C
in cold weather ops how long is the warm up time for the GTC prior to bleed air load?
1) 4 minutes?
Do not attempt to taxi if what is seen?
Any leakage of hydraulic fluid from any of the main landing wheel areas?
If prop low oil light illuminates during engine start or taxi do what?
1) Ground idle, Ground Stop
What is the minimum oil temp for taxi?
1) 40 degrees C
How many minutes prior to take off must you inspect the airplane and wing surfaces prior to takeoff?
1) must inspect entire plane
2) Must inspect 5 minutes prior
If any visible moisture is present and temperature is below 32 deg F, what should you do during takeoff and climb?
1) Use Anti icing and deicing during take off and climb.
- this prevents sever compressor damage and flameout during takeoff/climb.
How much torque loss is expected if anti-ice is operated during takeoff and climb?
750 inch pounds of torque
if slush on runway, what should you do with the gear on retraction?
1) Cycle the gear to ensure all slush is off the gear
On icy runways transition to nose wheel steering at or below what speed on landing?
1) 50 knots.
If temperatures are expected to be below -20 degrees F, do what with the batteries.
1) Remove them and store them in a warm place.
2) Close all doors and hatches.
When do Hot weather procedures start?
1) 35 deg C or 95 Deg F.
In hot weather OpS if light off doesn’t happen between 16-25% RPM especially during GTC starts do what?
1) write up in 781
During Decent the engineer should work to keep oil temp near what degrees C should they work to keep?
1) 60 degrees C
2) They will open and fix the oil cooler flaps below 15,000 or 10,000 depending on the engineer
