When warm air leaves the land and exchanges for cold air.
Coriolis affect
The rotation of the 🌏 causes objects in the northern hemisphere to deflect to the right while in the southern are deflected to the left
Jets stream
A band of very fast moving winds caused by differences in temperatures. About 10k above ground moves west to east in north hemisphere. East to west in south hemisphere
trade winds
Winds that blow towards the equator. Brings cold air from the poles to the tropics. Used sailors. Gains moisture as they travel. Brings tropical storms.
Doldrums
A spot near the equator with very few winds
Prevailing winds
Winds that blow away from the equator
Brings warm air from the tropics towards the poles.
Prevailing westerlies
Winds blowing away from the equator.
Blow. West to east
Ex. The gulf stream: brings warm air and water to the poles. On the east coast.
Polar easterlies
Winds near the poles
Goes E to W
