Environment
All living things and non-living around an organism.
Adaptation
Is a structure of behavior that allows a species to survive and reproduce in its environment.
Species
All members of a population and have the same general physical characteristics and other adaptations.
Community
The organisms that live together in an ecosystem.
Biotic
Living things in an ecosystem.
Abiotic
Non-living things in an ecosystem.
Niche
The role each species plays in its community.
Ecosystem
An area in which living and non-living things interact.
Population
Contains all of the same organism in a community
Habitat
Where something lives. It’s home.
Biome
Biomes are regions of the world with similar climate, animals, and plants.
Taiga
Taiga is the largest biome on earth. This region typically has long, cold winters and short, mild, wet summers.
Deciduous forest
Deciduous forest can be found in United States, Canada, Europe, China, Japan, and Russia. It has 4 seasons with the average temperature at 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Rainforest
Rainforests are located close to the equator. Rain forest are wet and warm all year. Average temperatures are 70 to 80 degrees.
Grasslands
The weather in the grasslands varies greatly. It is cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
Desert
The desert covers 1/5 of the world. Antarctica is the largest desert. Deserts are both hot and cold with very little rainfall.
Tundra
The tundra is the coldest biome. It covers 1/5 of the world. It can reach temperatures of -50 degrees.
Food Chain
A cycle of series of organisms each decent on eat the arrow that points to them.
Food web
An interaction of food chains
Omnivore
An organism that eats meat and plants
Carnivore
An organism that eats only meat
Herbivore
An organism that eats only plants
Producer
An organism that uses the suns energy to make its own food
Consumer
An organism that consumes producers
