- Slap gently upward on the magazine to ensure it is fully seated, and the follower is not jammed.
- Pull the charging handle fully to the rear.
- Observe for the ejection of a live round or expended cartridge.
- Release the charging handle.
- Tap the forward assist assembly.
- Squeeze the trigger and try to fire.
