What is chlorine gas?
Chlorine gas was invented by the Germans. It was first used in the battle of Ypres. Chlorine causes people to suffocate. People ran through the gas because they thought that it was a smoke screen.
What is mustard gas?
Mustard gas gives you blisters and causes blindness. It can be colored yellow, green or even clear. It smells like mustard or sometimes you can’t even smell it.
What is a flame thrower?
It creates a constant contagious flame.
What is a submarine?
An underwater ship.
What is the bolt action rifle?
The bolt action rifle was very accurate and could fire at 15 rounds per minute.
What are machine guns?
They can shoot up to 600 rounds per minute. They need 4-6 men to carry them and need to be on a flat surface to function. They also over heated easily and got jammed easily.
What is the zeppelin?
They were floating gas filled airships loaded with bombs that were used by the Germans. They carried machine guns and bombs but were abandoned because they were easy to shoot out of the sky.
What were tanks?
The first tank was made during WW1 and was called the little Willie. Tanks during WW1 were used to mow down barb wire.
What are planes?
At first they were used to deliver bombs and for spying but then they began to be used to fight. Fights between planes were known as dogfights.
What are torpedoes?
They were used by submarines. The Germans used torpedoes to blow up ships carrying supplies from America to Britain.
What is a flame thrower?
They spread and launch a steady stream of burning fuel.
What are shells?
Shells are fired by machine guns and explode upon impact.
Who was the read baron?
He was a German who flew a red plane. The red baron was credited with 80 flight victory’s.
