How did the Domino effect occur leading up to the WW1?

A

The domino effect occurred leading up to World War I because of the alliances. When one country declared war on another country, all of their alliances would too. An example of this was when Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. This led to Austria-Hungary and Serbia declaring war, each other which led to their alliances declaring war to.

What was the assassination in Sarajevo?

A

This was when a group of Serbian terrorists called the Black had assassinated Austria-Hungarys air to the throne Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. He was shot by Princip after his driver took a wrong turn. The death of Franz led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia. Austria-Hungary also received a blank check from Germany letting them know that they were now allies with Germany. From here war broke out because the domino effect occurred and all of the allies declared war to.

A

The Central Powers may have had less land than the Allies but they had very strong Empires and had militarism.

A

It increased tension because as the European nations were expanding when they would take over a new territory the people living it that land would sometimes have a strong nationalist tie to their previous county.
