Who was Alvin York?
He was known as the greatest American war hero or WW1. He was drafted to train at camp Gordon. He was from Tennessee, was a devoted Christian and did not want to kill. He only had nine months of school to yet he single handed lay captured 132 Germans and killed 9.
Who were the dough boys?
They were an American expeditionary force. They were let by John Pershing. They arrived to firing crowds in Paris. They stalled germanys advancement and were part of the allies.
What was the convoy system?
Teams of navy destroyers escorted merchant ships across the Atlantic. Not one American soldier was lost to a submarine attack.
What is unrestricted sub and warfare?
Submarines attack other ships without warning. Specifically the Germans would use there U-boats to attack any ship headed for Great Britain.
What is an autocratic nation?
An autocratic nation is ruled by one person with unlimited power.

The people control the government.

What was the sinking of the Lusitania?
The Lusitania was a British ocean liner transporting passengers and secretly war material secretly war materials from NY to England. It was sunk by a German U-boat in may 1915.
What was the Sussex?
In march 1916 another German U-boat torpedoed a french passenger ship called the Sussex. Wilson issued a final warning for Germany. Germany did not want to strengthen the allies so they compensated Americans who were injured aboard and promised no more sinking without warning.

Germans lose on the battle field due to shortages caused by British blockades forcing Germany to resume submarine ware fare in February of 1917. This was a violation of the Sussex pledge but Americans could not raise an army and transport it to Europe in time to prevent the allies from collapsing.

Britain intercepts a telegram for Germany to Mexico. It was a secret message from Germany to Mexico urging Mexico to attack the U.S. if the U.S. declares war on Germany. Germany promises Mexico Texas, New Mexico and Arizona if they join the central powers.
What is Wilson’s perspective going into his second election?
Wilson wants to keep the U.S. neutral and campaigned on the promises “he kept us out of war”. He was also the 1st democrat since Jackson to serve tow consecutive terms.
