What are the two weapon “Categories?”
Simple and Martial

Which weapon classifications uses the Strength Ability Modifier and which on uses the Dexterity Ability Modifier?
Melee weapons use the Strength Ability.
Ranged Weapons use the Dexterity Ability.
How many Weapon Properties are there?

There are 11 different Weapon Properties.

What is the Ammunition weapon property?
(5 Part Answer)
- Makes a ranged attack only if you have ammunition to fire from the weapon.
- Each attack with the weapon expends 1 Ammunition.
- If the weapon is one handed, you need a free hand to load it.
- Can recover half of your expended ammunition after a battle by searching the battle field.
- If a weapon has the ammunition property and you use it to make a melee attack, the weapon is treated as an “Improvised Weapon.”
What is the Finesse weapon property?
When you make an attack with a finesse weapon, you use your choice of your Strength or Dexterity Ability Modifier for attack and damage rolls.
-Note: You must use the same modifier for both rolls.
What is the Heavy weapon property?
Small creatures have Disadvantage on Attack Rolls with Heavy weapons.
What is the Light weapon property?
Light weapons are small and easy to handle. They are used for two-weapon fighting.

What is the Loading weapon property?
Loading weapons can only fire One piece of ammunition when using an action, bonus action, or reaction.
-Because of the time required to load these weapons
and
-regardless of the number of attacks you normally get.
What is the Range weapon property?
-Range is a property listed on weapons that can be used to make a ranged attack.
-Weapons with the Ammunition or Thrown property can be used to make a ranged attack.
- Range is a set of two numbers indicating a weapon’s Normal Range and Long Range.
- You have Disadvantage on the Attack Roll when attacking at Long range.
- You cannot attack a target beyond Long range.
What is the Reach weapon property?
Reach weapons add 5 feet to your reach when you attach with them.
This also applies when determining your reach for opportunity attacks.
What is the Special weapon property?
Weapons with the Special property have unusual rules governing their use.
Those rules are explained in the weapons description.
-In the D&D 5E Player Hand Book, there are only 2 weapons with the “Special” property.
What is the Thrown weapon property?
A weapon with the Thrown property can be thrown to make a ranged attack.
- If the weapon is a melee weapon, you use the same ability modifier for the attack roll and damage roll that you would use for a melee attack with the weapon.
How do Improvised Weapons work?

- An improvised weapon includes any object you can wield in one or two hands.
- An improvised thrown weapon has a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet.
- At the DM’s option:
-A character proficient with a weapon (ex. Club),
-Can use a similar object (Ex. Table Leg),
-As if it were that weapon. (Ex. Club),
-Also allowing use of his or her Proficiency bonus. - An object that bears no resemblance to a weapon deals 1d4 damage. (The DM assigns a damage type appropriate to the object.)
- These also deal 1d4 damage:
-Using a ranged weapon to make a melee attack.
-Throwing a melee weapon without the “Thrown” property.
What is the Two-Handed weapon property?
These weapons require Two-Hands when you attack with them.
