waves + vaccines Flashcards
what does a wave do
The wave carries energy from one point to another, without transporting matter.
what is a wavelength
X wavelength distance between two crests
what is a crest
amplitude hight
what is frequency
Frequency: it is a number of wavelengths per second and is measured in hertz (hz)
Amplitude it is the maximum height reached by a wave from its equilibrium point x-axis
what is a mechanical wave
mechanical waves require a medium like air or water
example sound
what is an electromagnetic wave
doesn’t require a medium that can travel through space
example light
what is a vaccine
a weakened version of a virus so the body can remember how to defend against the real thing
what do antibodies do
Antibodies hold in place the virus
what do memory cells do
And memory cells remember how to remake the antibodies
