what is a reservoir?
A natural lake you use to store water which can later be extracted
what is a water surplus?
A place where there is more than enough water
what is a water deficit?
A place where there isn’t enough water
why do you people walk so far for water in LICs?
they have to collect it from the wells and rivers. They have a very poor water supply
what are some examples of waterborne diseases, how does it affect people and what do they get from them?
cholera, typhoid
vomiting and diarrhoea
The water is polluted because of peoples waste thrown into the river because there is nowhere else for it to go
how can we improve the supply of water in LICs?
- wells
- recycling waster water to use on crops
- treadle pumps - suction pumped that sits on top of the well
why does the rainfall in the wrong place with people living in the UK?
because more rain is in Wales than there is in Britain and more people live in Britain than in Wales. This is why Britain has reservoirs
why is there not a not enough rainfall in the summer for tourists in Spain?
in summer rainfall is extremely low so tourists run out of water because of the drought therefore it’s hard for them to have swimming pools and drinks
how can we reduce the water consumption in HICs?
tap apparatus which makes less water come out of the tap. Use more grey water for things like showers and drip feed irrigation
