A

1973 War Powers Act: Future presidents of US need to notify congress before going to war
1974 Federal Election Campaign Act Amendments: created Federal Election Commission laws on how much money can be donated and how it is to be spent
1974 Privacy Act: Federal agencies restricted in data that is stored and citizens have the right to access this data
1974 Congressional budget and Impoundment Control Act:
before: congress allocates and president spends
after: president must gain congressional approval to reduce money spent or to delay spending

1972 June
5 plumbers arrested for bugging telephones at the National Democratic Committee
Woodward and Bernstein uncover link between plumbers and CREEP
Nixon wins 1972 election by a landslide
1973
Jan: burglars found guilty
Mar: McCord sends letter to judge saying plumbers forced to lie under oath
Apr: Nixon sacks WH lawyer and chief of staff.
Senate to investigate Nixon. Televised hearings of Nixon show he had involvement and tapes of convos
Nixon refuses to hand over tapes
Oct: Nixon tapes finally revealed and he’s ruined
1974
Jul: all recordings released he’s done
Aug: resigns before impeached
