Water On Earth Flashcards
Water cycle
The water cycle is the cycle of water that is constantly moving through the earth.
Evaporation
Evaporation is when water from any bodies of water like ponds, lakes, oceans and even a puddle on the side of the road turns into a invisible gas and it surrounds you all the time.
Condensation
Condensation is when water vapor turns into tiny water droplets and forms a cloud
Precipitation
Is when the moisture from the clouds comes down as rain, snow, sleet or hail.
Runoff
Is when the water that has just rained is going into lakes, streams or any bodies of water
Accumulation
Is when is when the water from the runoff collects in bodies of water.
Sublimation
When is ice changes to water vapor without melting
Frost
Is frozen water on the ground from the morning dew
Transpiration
It si when water is soaked in through the roots of the plant and evaporates through the leaves during photosynthesis
Cirrus
They are thin wisps of cloud made out of ice crystals and they are high altitude
Vertical clouds (thunder heads)
They bring storms and they are called cumulonimbus clouds sometimes
Cumulus
They are called alto-cumulus and alto means middle so they are mid altitude they are white and puffy and they are dark on the bottom
Stratus
They rare low altitude, layered and look dark
Fog
Fog is a stratus cloud at ground level
Rain
Snow falls into warm air, melts and turns into rain ☔️ before it hits the ground
