Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
It is the transfer of heat without direct touch of the object that will get warmer
Convection
It is the transfer of heat through a liquid or a gas
Conduction
It is the transfer of heat through touch
Physical properties
The physical state of some sort of object
Physical changes
They are the physical change that you can see and change back to the original state
Chemical properties
The properties of the object that you can’t get back after changing
Chemical change
When you change the objects state you can’t get it back (the opposite of physical change)
Average speed
The average speed is the speed of an object altogether
Velocity
The speed of something in the direction it is going
Friction
It is when 2 objects rub against each other and create heat. Friction can slow objects down
Ex. When you ride your bike friction slows you down unless you are pushing on the breaks. Sometimes when you get off your bike and you feel the tires sometimes the are hot.
Newton’s first law of motion
An object at rest stays at rest until a force acts on it and a object in motion will stay in motion in these direction unless acted upon by a unbalanced force
Newton’s second law of motion
The object with the most weight will go the slowest with less speed and the lighter object with the most force will go farther
Newton’s third law of motion
For every action there will be an equal and opposite reaction
