Water On Earth Flashcards
Evaporation
Is when the suns heat turns the water into a gas
Water Cycle
The reappeared movement of water through the environment.
Condensation
Condensation is when water vapor turns back to a liquid.
Precipitation
Is when water falls from the clouds as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
Runoff
Is when water is going down the hill.
Accumulation
is when water gets collected by lakes, rivers, or oceans.
Sublimation
Ice changes into water vapor gas without melting.
Frost
Water vapor gas freezes without turning into a liquid.
Transpiration
When a plant moistures and kind of evaporates into the atmosphere
Cirrus
Thin, and wispy, white, high-altitude. Will bring fair weather, and made out of ice crystals.

Bring thunderstorms, sometimes called thunderheads / Cumulonimbus.
Cumulus Cloud
Mid-altitude looks dark on bottom b/c little sunlight gets through.IT is also small and puffy.
Stratus
Low-altitude covers the sky layered and looks dark.
Fog
Gray and is made of ice crystals and is a stratus cloud close to the ground.
Rain
It is When ice crystals start to fall and the degrees is above 32˚F.
Hail
Its when ice crystals get tossed up and down until the cloud can’t hold them anymore.
Freezing rain
Freezing rain happens when when ice crystals start falling and when it touches something on the ground like a car that is below 32˚F.
Sleet
Sleet forms when water droplets start of in the air in air that is above 0˚C, and then it goes down to below 0˚c.
SNow
ITs when ice crystals fall from the cloud
