What is the purpose of a pulse raiser?
To gradually increase the heart rate and body temperature. E.g. jogging
How many components are there in a warm up?

What are the components to a warm up?
Pulse raiser, mobility, stretching (Dynamic or static), dynamic movement and skill rehearsal.
What is the purpose of mobility?
To allow the joints their full range of movement. E.g. high knees/arm swings
What is static stretching?
Holding a stretch in one position.
What is dynamic stretching?
The ability to take a joint and its muscles through their complete range of motion.
What is an example of dynamic movements?
Shuttle runs
Side steps
What is the purpose of skill rehearsal?
To practise the skills used in the activity. E.g. dribbling, shooting
What are the physical benefits to a warmup?
- Increases HR and Breathing rate
- Increases blood flow
- Increases body temperature
- Allows us to exercise at high intensity
What are the physical benefits of stretching?
Increases the flexibility of muscles.
Increases pliability of ligaments and tendons.
Helps to decrease the likelihood of injury.
