food shortages. Due to Incompetence by government to ensure food reached the cities.

What did middle classes encounter due to war?
Shortages of materials, began to feel Tsars government was ineffective.
What happened in the Duma during ww1?
They organised themselves into the progressive bloc to try and influence the Tsar.
What did the Tsar do in response to the Duma?
He dismissed the Duma rather than listen to him, this angered them.
What did the nobility call for by the end of 1916?
The abdication of the Tsar.
Who were now part of the nobility?
Junior officers fighting in the war? they suffered badly during the war
Due to the conscription of 13 million peasants what happened to the workforce?
They dwindled.

Much of the nobility had turned away from the tsar, they even killed him in 1916
