Wall Street Crash Flashcards
When did the Crash happen?
1929
What were the 4 causes of the Crash?
Over production
Unequal distribution of wealth
High import tariffs on American goods
Rising Stock Market
How did over production cause the Crash?
Companies were making more consumer goods than they could sell which caused prices to fall and unemployment to rise.
How did unequal distribution of wealth cause the Crash?
The rich became richer and the poor got poorer.
How did high import tariffs on American goods cause the Crash?
It meant that countries outside of the US made their own tariffs making American goods too expensive to buy in the rest of the world.
This meant there was no where else for American companies to sell to.
How did a rising stock market cause the Crash?
Inexperienced people had invested heavily in the stock market hoping to make money fast but once companies started to fall in value panic selling began and triggered the crash.
