API= under 25% (under 15% is VERY good OH)
SBI= under 35% is good ( under 25% is VERY good)
How often should you take an SBI and API?
each visit to track how well they are committing to OH

What acronym should you follow for SBI readings?
One tooth is missing, how many reading points is there? Do you count papilla 4 and 5?
Yes count IDP 4 and 5. There is 28, you want to count the interdental papilla present.
2 tooth are missing. How many reading points are there? Do you read interdental papilla 4,5 and 6?
27 reading points.
You would read 4 and 6. Bc 2 teeth missing there is no interdental papilla between.
So 2 tooth loss= 1 loss reading point
3 tooth are missing. How many reading points are there? Do you count 3,4,5,6?
26 reading points
lose 3 teeth next to each other = lose 2 ID papilla
do not include 4 and 5, its empty space, no teeth are there
