W13 Consequences of WB Flashcards
optimal level
level that is most favourable for an outcome
positive illusion
idealised way of seeing a certain relationship or object, prevents one from seeing weaknesses and working on them
approach vs avoidance motivation
we all have the need to belong - the approach vs avoidance motivation motivates us to approach socially rewarding relationships and behaviours to improve PA while the avoidance approach influences us to avoid punishments that would otherwise leave us feeling hurt and vulnerable.
broaden-and-build theory
broaden - though-action repertoire; openness to ideas and willingness or desire to do certain things
build - resources that might help in the future (cognitive, physical or relational)
ideal when it is a safe and secure environment where there is freedom to broaden and build
internal validity
extent to which a piece of evidence supports claims about a cause and effect relationship within a study
external validity
extent to which a study is generalisable to outside the context of that study
anhedonia
diminished interest or pleasure in something that was previously rewarding
within-person correlation
correlation calculated across runs within the same individual
prosocial behaviour
signs of support for others such as aids or donations
emotional contagion
a form of social contagion involving the spontaneous spread of a certain emotion and related behaviours
