broadly refers to any technological tool that serves as a bridge/conduit to stimuli that is otherwise not available in the immediate physical environment
screen media technology
media tech developed in the past century - including television, smartphones etc. and are generally electronic in nature

mediated activities = stimuli afforded by screen media tech
unmediated activities = stimuli afforded by physical environment and does not involve the use of screen media tech
