What is Condylomata Acuminata?
-Refers to vulval warts.
What is the cause of vulval warts?
- HPV infection
* Type 6 and 11
Who is at risk of getting vulval warts?
- Immunocompromised pts
- HIV
HIV and DM is associated with more extensive treatment resistant lesions.
Co-infection with types 16 and 18 is also common.
How do the lesions of vulval warts look like?
-Range from dome-shaped and smooth
to fungating and cauliflower like
-Typical colours include white
erythamatous
brown and
the same colour of the surrounding skin.
- Their size also range from a few mm to several cm
- Lesions are usually asymptomatic but may be pruritic.
How is the diagnosis of condolymata acuminata made?
- Made clinically
- If uncertainity, a biopsy can be performed
What is the medical Mx of condolymata Acuminata?
Medical Mx is done for small condolymata in non-immunocompromised individuals
- Trichloracetic acid and Podophyllin
- Directly destroy the wart cells (cytodestructive therapy)
-Imiquimod (immune-mediated therapy)
What is the surgical Mx for Condolymata Acuminata?
for larger lesions
- CO2 Laser ablation
- Electrocautery
- or Excision
